Macaulay Salmon Hatchery: Formal name of Douglas Island Pink and Chum (DIPAC) hatchery in Juneau . Formerly called Gastineau Hatchery. Masters, Mates, and Pilots:  the International Organization of Masters, Mates, and Pilots, known as MMP, represents about 70 deck officers on state ferries.  Affiliated with the International Longshoremen's Association.

Metlakatla: (MET-luh-KAT-luh); Town of 1,400, actually an Indian reservation at the southern end of Annette Island , 15 miles south of Ketchikan . Also known as the Annette Island Federal Reserve and the Metlakatla Indian Community. Founded by a group of Canadian Tsimshians who migrated from Prince Rupert , British Columbia , in 1887 seeking religious freedom.  Contact: 886-4441  Mayor: Victor Wellington Sr.  

Misty Fiords National Monument: A 2.3 million acre, mostly wilderness park 22 air miles from Ketchikan , extending north from Dixon Entrance along the Canadian border.  Contact: 225-2148.

Mount Edgecumbe: A large mountain near Sitka and an inactive volcano.
